A simple gable roof form with large dormers, wood brackets, deep roof overhangs, a generous front porch, a stone chimney, clapboard siding and a beautiful wood front door. The Craftsman style was the dominant style for smaller house plans throughout America from the early 1900’s until the early 1920’s. Magazines and Pattern Books made the style popular. The craftsman and bungalow are essentially variants of the same style. Think of the Bungalow as a lower slung, single story version of a craftsman house plan.
For us at Simply Elegant Home Designs our interpretation of a Craftsman or Bungalow House Plans as a home that is modest and simple yet at the same time rich and sophisticated. We think that it is a great architectural style to emulate.
