Our Afton Cottage is a simple cottage house plan featuring a wrap around porch and a modern open floor plan. The home was designed to fit on a narrow lot or take advantage of side yard views. The Architecture is distinct while still evoking the imagery of American Bungalows or Cottage home designs.
A generous wrap around porch leads you to the front door. The foyer provides space for a bench and cabinetry that provides storage for the front facing dining room. The kitchen which is placed in the center of the house truly is the heart of this home; which makes it convenient to dining and living areas. Mudroom and powder room areas are smartly and discreetly located between the attached garage and the living spaces. Finally a generous screen porch will allow you to spend many hours enjoying your rear yard.
The beautiful stairway leads to the center of the upper floor, providing convenient access to the 3 bedrooms (including the master suite). From there a short hall leads to the above garage bonus space. This space is left initially unfinished, but provides ample space for an additional bedroom and more family areas.
Foundation
The Afton Cottage house plan comes with a full basement foundation. The basement is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for a future bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted by your local Architect or Builder to accommodate lookout, walkout or other lot configurations.
