Our Hastings Cottage house plan continues the Simply Elegant Home Designs tradition of combining the best of the old and the new. We crafted an open and efficient floor plan and wrapped it with a modern cottage exterior. This is one simple, cool, and unique house plan.
A steeply pitched front gable with a 2 story projecting box bay provides a dramatic statement for this home. The deep entry porch engages this feature and provides quick access to the interior. Inside the entry we created a niche to accommodate a nifty bench and “dump desk”.
The “dump desk” concept provides a place to store nik naks and drop off the mail. The front facing den or “away room” offers an intimate environment to read a book or catch a good movie. Beyond lies the great room with open and connected Living, Kitchen and Eating areas.
The mudroom with powder room is placed behind the garage, providing a clever connection between the garage and the public spaces of the house.
Upstairs the 3 bedrooms and laundry room are effectively laid out. The Master Suite housed above the garage ensures that every useable square foot of footprint is being utilized. This makes for one efficient house plan. This arrangement also provides the Master Bedroom with just enough privacy from the kids bedrooms. Convenient, yet private - that’s good for mom and dad.
Foundation
The Hastings Cottage house plan comes with a full basement foundation. The basement is unfinished but indicates rough in locations for a future bathroom. The plan could easily be adapted by your local Architect or Builder to accommodate lookout, walkout or other lot configurations.
